Fel-Pro makes an intake gasket that DOES NOT have the holes cut in it for the heat riser. I used there gaskit on a 360 in a drag car and didn't have any issues with it for the two years that I raced it.
Thank you sir! I just found it and ordered it.
Its PN FEL-1213. Mancini is shipping it as I type!

I used those felpro gaskets and they burned through in about 3 or 4 years even of limited use. I have regular hp exhausts on my AAR.
well thats good to know. I will probably do a combo of aluminum foil balls (aluminum melts at 1220 degrees F) and maybe a steel plate that fits inside the port so the gasket will hold up longer

whats the temperature at the opening tothe exhaust port? Lead melts at 600 degrees. It would suck if the lead melted
It's not lead, but a zinc alloy. You can buy it from Mondello or Dick Miller Racing. They sell it just for this application. You need a cast iron pan and an acetylene torch to heat it up.
I don't know the melting point of lead right off the top of my head, but I know it melts easy with a small propane torch. Those don't get nearly as hot as a real acetylene torch gets.

Grab some .020 or thinner steel and be done with it.
problem is that ive already ordered the gaskets with heat riser already blocked. if i stick that steel shim in ther, Wont it bulge out too much..
i suppose I could cut it out so theres a tiny overhang (1/8" all around). I could try it. it just that I know my heads were milled and the intake surface probably wasnt done (or wasnt milled enough) so its a real [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] to get the intake on as it is. I need to start certain bolts that want to cross thread because of the angle they go in at. then once i get a few started, i tighten them up and it pulls the intake down so i can get the others in. in any event, its not easy so the thinner I am on the gasket surfaces, the better off it will be bolting the intake on

thin metal works best,I rvt it to the head, then install the gasket and intake if its 2 thick it will/could cause an intake leak or suck oil into the port..DAMHIK another way I use the permotex copper and fill the heat cross over in the heads, about 2" deep, then smooth off at intake surface, let cure over night never seen that stuff move or burn yet been sealing old header gaskets for awhile with it also it does not get any hotter than right there at the bowl behind the valve and the top side of the exhast port into the header flange if it dont burn there after 2yrs,its not gonna burn if that is not to shadetree for ya that crap plugs up the flow of a radiator pretty good also

Do you put the aluminum foil balls in the passage in the head OR the manifold?
