been using bargain roller tip aluminum rockers.
the result has been some of the adjusters have backed out 3 times in less than 5000 miles.

most recent a lock nut has apparently made it into the block, havent tore it down yet just pulled vlv cover.
i'm going back to steel adjustables, are any to be trusted other than crane or comp? I see some new lower cost options.

Isn't that what got you where you are now?

The price of two low cost, but ineffective, rocker sets has to be more than one set of quality rockers.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

the high end steels are nearly Harland sharp $$ , a lower cost, not cheap trusted option would be nice if it exists.

""some of the adjusters have backed out 3 times in less than 5000 miles"".

If the rockers are still good, how about just replacing the adjusters, or just the nuts with a higher quality brand?

I'd be a little concerned adding a set screw. Seems it would be one more thing that could come loose and fall into the motor.

I am plugging the side horizontle holes in my 273 rockers, the outer one on the adjuster side, the one Ma used to drill in past the threads to the other side & I am drilling further on into the shaft to get oil from the shaft. I'm gonna clean everything well with brake kleen and loctite em. my adjusters are fairly tight but I had to swap several rockers (luckily I had plenty of spares even after experimenting & ruining several on the valve grinder problem) to get tight ones & if they were loose just me I would be OK with screwing the setscrew(s) in further till they contacted the adjuster screws after setting the lash then loctite. OT I did drill .125" holes in the shaft to line up with the rocker holes on the adjuster side and drilled holes in the rocker on the other side (& into the shaft) on the valve side to lube the valve tip (also clocked at valve closed) & I have some birdshot that I am going to plug the OE holes that are clocked wrong. I will still have the 15 deg offset holes on the bottom with the banana grooves
