Thanks to all whom can help. I am trying to set my kickdown cable on my automatic 727 trans. I have a lockar type cable. Should I take the lever on the trans and pull it forward and then wide open the throttle lever and tighten cable there? This would make the throttle pressure on the trans be relative to accelerator opening. Any help would be appreciated. Tod

I think there is info on this in the tech archives, you have to have the ratio ratio right or the kickdown lever will move too soon/late in relation to carb movement.

With WOT .. the lever should be most to the rear.

The generic nature of the Lokar setup makes it fit correctly on only a few carb/trans lever combos. The transmission lever is usually too long to work properly with this setup.

You need to measure the total travel of the carb lever from idle to WOT and then find a point on the trans lever that has the same travel from full forward to full back and attach the cable there. There should be a spring to pull the trans lever full forward.

Adjusting the cable so that the trans lever is full back at WOT usually results in late light throttle upshifts.
