Folks, here's some food for thought on the hole placement on the wheelwell moldings. These cars were manufactured in several different plants. I believe that the placement of the holes in the different plants may not be the same from one plant to another, they may be close, but they may not be EXACTLY the same. So when somebody has the wheelwell moldings reproduced, it's going to be nearly impossible to put holes in the trim that would match the hole placement from all the different assembly plants. The holes may line up nice for one person, but another might find them to be way off. Who's to say who's hole pattern is the CORRECT one? That would be virtually impossible. There are some varieties of trim that do not have holes, but a lot of folks who purchase trim do not want to have to drill holes, so trim with holes is offered as well. I personally have bought trim from one of the more "well known" NOS vendors for some of my own cars in the past, and the hole patterns on the NOS pieces did not match the hole pattern on my car that had original un-touched sheetmetal. Just something to think about.......

Good thread; and timely too! I purchased repro wheelwell mouldingsfor my 'Bee and I have to say they aren't good enough to use (for me). The profile isn't "clean" (i.e. the cross section changes shape slightly as you move down the length of the moulding. It also doesn't fit the wheelwell very well at all. I'm just not sure it's worth risking the $$$$$$$'s I've spent on paint and bodywork trying to force them into place. I can't remember where they came from, and I don't want to guess and give a vendor undeserved bad press, so I'll double check tonight and post the answer. If there is someone out there making better ones, I'd be happy to buy them. I'd go for NOS, but I couldn't find any. If I can't find anything better, then I'm gonna use the half decent used front ones I have and try to find some good used for the rears. Dave

This is the exact reason why I need to buy some mouldings and get them to my body guy. He likes to fit them before paint. He said that he had to slightly pie cut a set of quarters once to get the mouldings to fit just right.
If anyone recomends one company over another due to fitment problems please PM me. I understand if you don't want to say something on the public board about a certain company and I don't blame you.

I bought my mouldings from your company right when they first became available. They had holes pre-punched and none of the holes lined up so I ended up selling them to someone who didn't mind drilling new holes in their car. Do you now offer the trim without holes? That was my only real problem with them as they seemed to fit the profile of the fenders pretty good otherwise.
I have an NOS set, but they have a little too much shelf wear and don't actually look as nice as the repo's did. If yours are still the same quality and are available without holes I may have to buy another set.....

Your bodyman is a smart dude; that's what I should have done. Just to be clear, it isn't my quarters that are a problem; the DS is original and the fit is just as bad as it is on the skin on the PS.
I'll PM you when I look at my invoice tonight. Dave

I used Goodmark 1/4's five years ago on my 73 Challenger, and yes the side marker light recesses were "iffy". The holes in the 1/4's for the light socket & stud needed to be wallowed out and masssaged. The other "iffy" issue was the hole for the gas cap. Actually, there was nothing "iffy" about it. I found out after the car was painted that the recess for the cap was apparently designed and stamped by a one-armed blind man... I had to go to my local Mopar "boneyard", and have him torch a "hole" off of an original 1/4", and I put that piece in on the trunk side of the 1/4. Might as well take him your gas cap, either the stock flat one, or the "flip-top", and check it at the same time that you check the marker lights...

He already has the stock "flat" gas cap because it gets painted body color. I didn't send the filler tube though. I wonder if that makes a difference?

Update: the ones I bought came from E-Body Parts and Restoration/THEMOPARSHOP.com, part number CMW6870DB.
Sorry, just not happy with them. If anyone knows of a manufacturer that is making nice ones, let me know. If not, I'm back to used or NOS.
