i want to buy a r/t hood with the looverd insert but i think there is something missing on the inside of the hood.

i thought that under the insert there is a kind of plastic something to get rit of the rain water??
maybe has someone has a pic of the inside of a r/t hood?

and of a spuerbee hood ? he is also has a superbee hood for sale so i much choose between those 2

There are two main parts that make up the 71 R/T hood insert. The first (top) is the louver part and the second(bottom)is the plate that is located below the louver part. They fit together and are held together by three nuts in the center area of the insert. Both pieces are held to the hood with 12 "Bell Nuts" and 12 threaded rods. The Bell Nuts are now being repopped by Year One but are very expensive. I believe that the Super Bee insert is similar but I'm not sure. I can email you a photo of the R/T insert and the Bell Nuts if you like. Inserts for the R/T or the Super Bee are very rare and difficult to find for sale. They are very expensive (anywhere from $400 to $1000 US). I sold one for $400 recently and it was resold for $950 US.

Attaboy beat me to it. here's what I had for you. R/T insert is made of pot metal (both top and bottom)with a drain hose off the right front corner. Be ready to pay $600.00-$1000.00 they are going for outrageous sums of cash these days. I suppose you could say they're made of unobtainium.

and the Super Bee insert is made of fiberglass (one piece) no drains. a little easier to find and usually a couple of hundred to $500.00 depending on condition.

For what it's worth...there is a fiberglass reproduction being made that costs less than $100 (for the insert).

I haven't had the opportunity to check out the 'glass one...but if I can't locate a top plate in decent shape, I'm gonna order one and find out.
