Help, trying to reinstall a fuelpump on my Magnum w/400-4. I cannot get it back in or on, seems to want to drop or turn down, is there some tips/tricks to reinstall? Am I missing something? Thanks! Videos?

Yep, feel in there and slide it up in towards the block and it should go right in.

There is a plug under where the pump goes that allows the pushrod to come out. If you remove the plug it will also allow you to use something to hold it up. You can also remove the pushrod and grease it to hold it in place.

I always pull the plug and put a little bit of petroleum jelly on the end of the rod put it back in and it will hold it up so the pump will bolt right on. Works eveytime.

I have, on occasion, removed alternator and the brackets to get a close look at the install.

Set the dist rotor to #6,that puts the fuel pump lobe on its low point.Easier to put the pump in.

I've pulled the small plug that allows the push rod to come out and inserted a piece of fuel line. The fuel line holds the push rod up against the cam and will move out of the way when the arm of the pump is aligned.

Thanks folks. One thing I will ask, will the rod fall out if I remove the plug (which I did see) and how hard to replace if it does?

It may slide out when you remove that plug, if it does take some wheel bearing grease(or some other thick grease) and coat it and slide it back in all the way and put the plug back in. As already pointed out by having it at TDC on #6 (soemthing I didn't know) that should allow you to push the rod up far enough in that you can slide the pump arm in between the rod and the block and insert the bolts and finish reinstalling the pump scope thumbs
Let us know how this goes thumbs
