This last race I got beat in the 2nd round by the eventual winner...a turbo fox body mustang that's been 4.70s. He's also a regular in the 28/275 shootouts. There's a few more turbo mustangs that are real close to running w/ him.

It's usually a whole bunch of mustangs and me in the class, but last time there was a decent variety. Several mustangs like usual, but also a '68 chevelle (NOS BB), a '70 nova (NOS BB), a LUV pickup (NOS SB), one LS1 Firebird, and my cuda.

we had one in tulsa a few years ago, it was a little loose on the rules but it was fun anyway. it was the first one but turnout was in the 15-20 range if i remember.

I'm definitely not saying there should be a whole lot of rules or restrictions for this type of event.
But...... Whatever they come up with for the rules..... Enforce them.
If it seems like some adjustments need to be made to make the class more inclusive, change the rules...... For the next event.

Very well said and very true. I have much respect for people who build class cars as I know its not cheap and you have to be good at what you do to be a winner and stay in the rules in cars built for certain classes. I wish I had the time , health and money to build my 63 as a NHRA or FAST Max Wedge car but my health and money situation makes it something I just cant do. And thats the good thing about bracket racing and that is that I can build my car as mild street car like I did in the 70's and not worry about being all legal within the rules since I can just bracket race it when I go to the track. Myself I like to go to Test & Tunes with my buddies and have a few grudge races for fun. But I do love the thrill of racing neck to neck against another car in the traps trying to beat them. And now that many NSS classes are more or less just bracket racing I love the fact that my car fits in some of their classes as then I can race with the cars I love the most. And it seems whenever their are certain rules some cars need to be built by to race in there is always a track favorite or two who seem to get away with bending the rules more then others. Ron

I like the street car race thing, and had a great time at the one I went to at Brainerd Optimist. I did win, but would have had fun regardless. Nice people, good group of guys ect. Not to mention it feels good racing heads up, even if it's just street stuff.

They have a "rule" for the class that I didn't like at first until I really thought about it, and now it makes perfect sense, and I like it. Chase, and it's a race is the rule. Meaning you can jump the lights on someone, and even red light. Should the opposing car leave too, then the red doesn't matter, and you're in a race. Sit still on the line, and the red lighting party is out. Gives the slower cars something to try.
