Does anyone have some good tips on performing a bumper jack restoration? Best way to disassemble it, etc?

Thanks!

What kind of mast does it have? My Challenger has a hollow style mast that is zinc plated. For that, I slightly spread apart the mechanism so it would slide past the end stop of the mast. I cleaned up and sprayed the mechanism, then had the mast zinc plated.

If the mast is the solid style, I believe it just gets painted silver. You wouldn't even have to disassemble it. Just re-spray the mechanism, move it to one end and spray the mast. When that's dry, move the mechanism to the other end and spray that side.

It's a hollow mast for my '68 cuda. Not sure if I can spread it enough to get the mechanism off the mast, but I'll look/try tonight.

Does anyone have a pic of a restored jack assembly for a '68 Barracuda? My base and mechanism were black. The one I have does not have a floating hook - so I hope it's the right one. I got it from a Moparts member years ago.
