Actually, that was at the Nationals at Maple Grove.

Scuttlebutt from the Dutch yesterday:

Bucky - 8.63
Charlie - 8.71
Both teams brought 2 cars.
Report is at least 22 cars there as of yesterday afternoon.

Has anyone heard NHRA might let the cars run a rack and pinion

That would be shame. The class is called Super STOCK, not Jr. Pro Stock. Unless there was an R & P option in '68 that no one knows about.

It's sad, there isn't much left that is stock, yet a guy can get thrown out because of the wrong butterfly screws in the carb...Sometimes I think NHRA runs on 110 octane STUPID.

Jesse, Jim Skelly told me the other day there will be no change for 2007.

There are a lot of parts on these cars that weren't on them in 1968. We believe that the rack & pinions will make them safer and our team will continue to lobby for a change.

I hate to bust anyone bubble but by putting a rack on these cars would be a step backwords. The rack is not as strong as the factory stuff. there is no gain in safty there. I have done work on alot of a body cars with racks and there is nothing safer for them............

I was at the Dutch Classic at Maple Grove today (10/21) for the Hemi Shootout.

Jim Pancake defeated Joey Wilkes in the final and David Barton in the semi's. Wilkes had a bye in the semi's. Bucky Hess went 8.51 in qualifying, Wilkes and Charlie Westcott were also in the 8.50's and 8.60's throughout the day (I think they both had 8.58's). Great day for the Hemi's...

We dropped a valve in #1 motor a few weeks ago at Fontana then my Dad got pneumonia. Too much to get it all together for a big road trip back east.

Furthermore it only serves to take more of the stock out of superstock. These cars have a following because they are still real cars. If at the end of the day, they become full chassis jerry haas/bickel type chassis cars with barracuda sheetmetal on them, it will take away the appeal of the class.

Yea, we're real scared. We've been to Belle Rose the last 3 years, Indy each year. How many thousands of miles and dollars in expense is that to come race? There was a Mopar Hemi Challenge race in Fontana last month. We didn't see any east coast cars there...I don't think we've seen an east coast car out here in years. I keep forgetting how the freeways only go one way. Crap happens, life happens, drag racing doesn't always take priority.
