UH BESIDES THE FIRE HAZZARD.THAT STUFF WILL GO RIGHT THROUGH YOUR SKIN INTO YOUR BLOODSTREAM AND IT CAN CAUSE LIVER DAMAGE AND CANCER.I WOULD BE VERY CAREFUL OF USING IT TO CLEAN YOURSELF OFF.SORRY IF I SOUND LIKE IM PREACHING.BUT I LOST A FELLOW WORKER.HE ALWAYS DID THAT.HIS FAMILY SAID HIS LIVER DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY ALL THE SOLVENTS HIS BODY HAD ASSORBED OVER THE TWENTY FIVE YEARS AS A DIESEL TECH.

Parts cleaner is not people cleaner most cleaners have a label warning of the dangers with skin contact, breathing some of these cleaners can be real bad for you also. In fact breathing some of them can cause you to be come legally intoxicated so if you were to drive to the parts store you could get a DUI.
Please be careful with what we use in the shops.

MAN... that scenario is so deja vu. I did almost exactly the same thing when I was restoring my demon- leaning over the plastic garbage can in the garage spraying off suspension parts with brake cleaner. I dropped a part in the car and leaned in to get it-BAM I'm on fire and in shock as to what hill just happened. Static from my sweater happened- that's what. Scared the crap out of me and my wife was much oblivious as to what had just happened- never mind the fact that I was missing my eyebrows, facial hair, arm hair, half the hair on my head and a burnt sweater . I thought for sure I was going burn the car and garage down before I got myself extingushed.

Glad to hear you were not badly hurt

If I'm not mistaken Ryan J went through the roman candle treatment from a static spark as well a while back.

i'm with you on the fire extinguishers...never thought much until i managed to blow up my new indy intake in the garage on the first fire BOOM! THe top hit the hood and it landed upsidedown on the core support...flaming...and the line pumping fuel..caught the oil on the k-member. Like you a litte red after that! Thank god my buddy had a fire extinguisher in his race car (which was unloaded for a change) in his garage or we all would have been out 7 mopars and a rollback. went out the next day and bought a bunch fire extinguishers. If any of you dont have them in your garage AND car AND trailer...GO GET SOME! Glad you're ok!

Wow Bill, glad you're ok.

All I've got close to that is the time I was welding a part held in the bench vise over a trash can that had some spilled black powder in it. Luckily it was just a small poof. Small can fire I was able to quickly move outside to the hose.
