after 20+ years of shifting gears im ready for an auto.
are the name brand trannies from the big box stores dependable?

727 or 904 behind a 416 smallblock ? will driveshaft length change? lokar the easiest option for kickdown cable?

I wouldn't buy a performance trans from a big box store, Call John Cope.

904 will have to be built up but will use the same driveshaft , 727 will handle it better but you'll need to shorten the driveshaft.

Bouchilon for the throttle valve cable. Lokar is hit or miss, mostly miss, on working correctly.

If you have a 904, build it yourself, it's NOT hard to do. Building an engine is harder to do than a 904 or 727. Plus you learn a new skill and don't have to rely on someone else to do it anymore.

There are a bunch of videos, books and a really strong recipe cost about 300-400 for all the parts, many of which can be used over. One of my friends has this build behind a 525ish hp stroker hitting it with a 100-150 shot.
