I'll tell the full story later after I have a little more rest, but here's what I got: 1947 Chrysler Windsor 4 door sedan. Plans are to freshen it up a bit and enjoy it stock.

Nice shape! Hard to believe the DeSoto Suburban was longer. If you need stuff, there's a Burb near me, rough though.

I found it on the bag. 1400 buy it now.
Came with lots of extra parts. Only issue was that it was in Nebraska, 16 hours and 1100 miles away, according to google maps.
Left Friday afternoon, got there Saturday morning, loaded by Saturday afternoon, slept Saturday night, drove back Sunday.

Extra parts in trunk

Wow, $1400 doesn't seem too bad. There's been a similar Dodge for sale locally that's ROUGHER and they are asking LOTS more for it.

That's the thing; there aren't that many old mopars left, but demand is low too. Lots of guys are asking for a lot and not getting it.
If you are looking for one to restore, you are much better off saving up for a restored one. I'm talking basic 40's mopars I've seen.
There are a bunch in bad shape, some in decent shape, and some in very nice shape. When the nice restored cars (#2+ to #3+) go for 9-20K, you can't do a full body/paint, upholstery and chrome. You still haven't touched the mechanicals. The decent ones (#3) are still out there, but a little harder to find. They tend to ask 80% of the nice ones, and unless you can get it for less, aren't worth it. Save another 6 months or whatever it takes. The cost of doing a junker is too high to even consider. I didn't want a full restoration. I want a decent older one I can putter with, drive around and enjoy. Hopefully keep it going, make it nice and be a caretaker, so it survives at least as well as I get it. I don't want to send the 50+ chrome parts across the country, spend a year or two in body shop purgatory, go through the whole undercarrage and then have a trailer queen.
This one needs minor rust repair, uphostery and sprucing up. It may need more I haven't found. It could use a paint job, but I'm going to see how the old stuff polishes up. Same with the chrome and stainless. It's not missing much, which can kill you. The extra parts help too.

Thanks, bigdad. PM me with an email and I'll send you the long story. It was 8 degress Sunday morning.....
BTW, the picture at the top is here, and that's frost on it. It's windy and snowing here right now, otherwise I'd be out there rubbing on it and looking thru the boxes, rather than answering questions...

rrbrucea, Here's a nicer example

Chief, thanks for the offer, but I still have to go through it and see what I have. I still haven't sat in it! Too busy getting it loaded, now it's up on the trailer and I'd have to remove the trailer fender to open the door, pull out the stuff and I'd rather wait until I can clean it up a bit. Tried to get a battery today. Called NAPA and they said sure, we have 2 in stock!
Drive down and they had the wrong number (12 volt ones). Called the local interstate, and they have one. Will go get one, but the more I think about it, the more I want to pull the pan and clean it out before cranking it over. Gotta find an oil pan gasket and some oil for it. I did get an original owner's manual and a service manual for it from the seller. Still need to get the parts book.

Oh man, that second one is the car! But, life has thrown me a curve... there's going to be a '67 Mustang that I think is going to come into my life. SORT of "free". Long story, but belonged to my girlfriend's ex-husband. He's no longer with us, and willed the Mustang to his girls. So no old rod project for me, I'm going to be fixing up a Mustang for my step daughter...

It runs! I picked up a battery yesterday, and the starter solenoid was stuck. I posted on the forum for these cars (Post War Heavy Metal )
and one of the guys told me about the bellcrank sticking. Since it's external, it was easy to pry and lube. So it started today with a little effort. I even drove it a bit, although there are NO brakes, and the driveshaft E brake needs adjustment. I'm still polishing it and cleaning, but it's coming along.

The dash is cleaned up, except the radio. Too many tight spots, so I'll pull it out to polish.
This has some of the first Plastic parts inside, but luckily there is a guy who casts new ones. They are on the front top of the door in front of the chrome (one chipped, in picture), the speaker cover (good) the corners of the dash (good) around the cluster (warped) and molded on the glove box door (bad).

Here's a shot of the polishing progress before the buffer broke. Still have to do the hood top, the roof, the driver's fender, the passenger back and LOTS of hand work. It's too windy out there now.

If the mods would rather have this over in projects that's fine, but I'd rather have it here.
