Any bar can be bent as long as it's 1 5/8" (or whatever the spec calls for) or is not required to be there to pass cert. The crossbar in the main hoop is one they are funny about if it's smaller than 1 5/8". Not unusual to tweak the rocker bar out to the rocker panel. Dash bar can be bent.
Some more info or pics would be helpful. Stock body, floors, frame rails? Have to pass cert? How fast? Adding to existing structure and having it be legal can be difficult or even impossible, depending on what's already there.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

If the firewall and the trans tunnel's been replace with anything other than original metal, it needs a dash bar and rocker bar. The information in the NHRA rulebook will get you to 8.50. If you plan to EVER go quicker than that, make the car legal for the correct SFI spec 25.4 or 5 now. Cage/chassis needs to be assembled correctly. Not getting everything in correctly now may result in having to cut out a bunch of tubes later to make it right.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

JMO but I like the sill bars even if they arent required.. it has a better leverage to keep the twist out of the car (farther from centerline).. I just tie them into the main hoop and the knee hoop since both of those are at the outer edge
