I'm going to be building another 360 in the near future for a race only motor. The last 360 I had in the car ran great and was deadly consistent and had a .519/.524 hydraulic comp cam. I shifted at 6K and crossed the line at 6200. I have a .528 solid mopar performance cam that I bought a few years ago, but hadn't bought rocker arms for it yet. I realized now that after the valve lash that cam is only about a .500 lift cam. Would the .519/.524 cam be better and mph more or would the .528 cam be better? The engine will be pretty basic, stock stroke, scat rods, good set of forged flat top pistons, eddy heads, eddy intake, holley 750.

Racer Brown STX20 or STX21. 20 IS .547 and 268*. 21 IS .560" and 272* Race only std. stroke 360 with 5000+ stall and proper tire gear. Good ported heads would help a lot. 1.6 Rocker arms would help also. Flat tops .04 out of the hole like a 340 works great also. My +.040 deck height flat top piston 367, 10.7 to 1, 360 with ported production heads, [587 casting#], and a STX21 went 10.35 at 128mph at 3100lbs., in good air. 727 w/8" conv, Dana60 w 4.88 gears and 13X31 tires.

When I was running a 360 street car with 3.23's and an XE268, COMP recommended a 20-228-4 lobe as an upgrade for a more strip setup with 4.10s and a 3-4k converter. Duration @ .050 241/247 Lift is .545/.545 with a 110 LSA.

Never got the chance to run it before I hurt the motor/trans and went to the dark side (RB)

Make a call to a cam guy, or run what ya got and call it good enough.

Faster, Faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death...

71 Swinger - slowly collecting dust/parts
66 Belv. II - just a streetcar
88 Mustang - turbo LS beater

I can tell you this cam works pretty good in a mild 340. 10:1, RHS heads, Victor, Fast EFI, mild converter, 3.91 gears, 315 MT DR, full exhaust, 3250+ lbs and goes 11.40's @ 117 shifting at 5000. Yes, 5000. Very street friendly cam IMO.
