Not sure on darts, but I have a 69 charger, no headrests, and got a chance to look at at a 30k mile original 69 Hemi Superbee...original interior, no headrests. My A12, has headrests, and the 69 340 swinger, which is a late build, has the headrests with no chrome (bench seat).

I'm curious on the 69 Darts also, of when the cutoff date was. I'm thinking it had to be mid. 1969 that it became mandatory. On a bucket seat, A-body, in 69, the only headrest used would have the chrome band.

For what it's worth my 69 Coronet R/T built Apil 10 has headrests.

that makes sense,I have seen the chrome band/oval style on bench cars but they fit so were probably just swapped.
Most like the oval style better.

Bucket seats got the chrome band bench got the other kind, though I did take set of the chrome band headrests off a 4-door Dart with a bench. work

Jim,
I was just talking about that the other day with a friend. Seems a lot of A body bench seat cars came along with the oval headrest. I took a pair off of a 70 Duster 340-completely original seats to the car.
Never found any on a b body bench seat...

1969 A and B body buckets got the chrome band headrest. The benches got the larger chromeless headrest. In 1970 high back buckets replaced buckets with seperate headrests. The 1970, benches got the 1969 style chrome band headrests. They are not interchangable though as the posts are shaped differently.
