If its in am imperial, its likely a 392.

Core value, $1000-1500 if its 57 or 58, depending on the condition. More if its nice.

392 has a longer stroke then the 354/331. Cranks are premium $$$.

You could part then engine out for more than double the $1500 figure. Do the valve cover say imperial?

Single 4bbl carb?

Adjustable rockers are worth $1000 by themselves, but I dont beleive the imperial got solid lifters.

I used to care but....... things have changed

Way to tell if it is a 392 hemi is the numbers and letters on the pass side of engine just in front of the valley cover should start with either NE57 or 58C for an Imperial for 57 or 58 model year.

A few years ago a local guy here was selling a "392"; I took a bunch of reference material with me to check it out. Turned out to be a '57 Dodge KD-500 325 Hemi.

I got his $500 "392" for $270 complete.

You sure its in an imperial? Had that engine been in a 57 300 car, the dual 4 bbl intake, valve covers with the "bumps" and the mecha rocker gear would be the high $$$ items someone would pull. Seems they took what would be the "good" stuff from a 57 300 letter series car.

With those items missing, assuming its a core, $1000.

Its ABSOLUTELY from a mid 40's Imperial. I'm looking at the car! Someone did mention a "300" series.

Mid 40's????

As far as I know the first Hemi that was in production was 52.

if its indeed a mid 40s chsysler and it has a 392, its been swapped in.

If its the original engine to the car then its not a 392.

392s came only on the 57 ad 58 chyslers and I think also the imperials.

I stand corrected. Sorry about that. My point was that it wasn't factory if it was a car from the 40's and it could have anything in it unless he was to run the numbers to see which motor it is.
