I would start one or two ranges cooler. Timing is easy to read on a street car, A/f is more difficult, without a O2 sensor, because the idle circuit will color the plugs pretty quick.

you might consider taking it to a chassis dyno, they should be able to set you up pretty quick. make sure you call them and find out what you need to bring with you.

Cab has the right idea (as usual). If it were me (and I've run boosted before) I'd get a boost delay box. It takes out timing under boost...MSD has a unit I think it takes out from .5-4* per lb of boost. I took out 1* per lb of boost but I was only running 6. I had timing in full 36* at 2200. Under load (boost) the timing would back off so under full boost it would be around 30*

thanks for all the help! getting new plugs, plug wires ,just got new carbs set up for my combo borrowing a timing light and see what i can do. thanks again for help and all the info!
