Picking up a short block tomorrow. Does not have an oil pan. What size bolt? Thanks

They are 1/4" coarse thread around 5/8" length with underhead serrations to help keep them in place. Many aftermarket bolts are flange head with a smaller than usual socket size which is handy.

5/16" add a dab of blue medium strength loctite on the threads to keep them from loosening.

5/16x18 thread, but make sure you choose the correct length depending on the pan/gasket combination and weather or not you are using a windage tray. do not choose a bolt length for your combo that only allows a few threads to enter the block, nor choose a length that bottoms in the block before the pan combo is fully tightened.

We prefer to use studs..
ARP and Milodon makes these, Jegs carries.....
The kit provides easy pan installation, windage tray and gasket lineup...
