First: here's my set up. I've got a '94 5.2L Magnum running the stock injection and computer swapped into my Barracuda.

I'm chasing a cold start problem. On cold start, it runs rough and sometimes dies. It hunts for idle until it's warmed up. Then it seems to run okay, except that it seems to run rich.

All that said, I checked resistance on the coil today and wanted some opinions. The factory manual gives the following numbers for two different manufacturers:
Diamond: primary resistance 0.97-1.18 ohms and secondary resistance 11,300-15,300 ohms.
Toyodenso: 0.95-1.20 ohms and 11,300-13,300 ohms

I don't know who made my coil. The numbers I get off it are: 1.8 ohms and 13,570 ohms.
The primary resistance is out for both types and the secondary is out for one of the ranges.

Should I go ahead and just replace it? Could it be causing a cold start issue?

I do not know FI but I'm gonna go out on a limb & say that the coil ain't the culprit. I wouldn't wanna shotgun parts at it

I also do not agree that it is the coil.

I think you should be checking the iac and the seal at the bottom of the intake.

The only time I had hunting like that was the iac wasn't working right.

Here is what I measured on my 1995 model year stock Ram ignition coil this afternoon:

Number on side of coil: 56027966

Primary Resistance 0.99 ohms
Primary Inductance 6.25 milliHenrys
Secondary Resistance 12,250 ohms
Secondary Inductance 41.9 Henrys

I put 6.3 volts of 60 cycle AC on the primary of the stock coil and got 453 volts AC on the secondary. The turns ratio of the stock coil might be about 453/6.3 = 72

Above measured with a seventeen year old BK Precision LCR Meter model number 875A and a Fluke 87.

Electrical parts tend to get worse when they get warmer, not better, unless they are vacuum tubes.

Cold engines need a richer mixture, a vacuum leak would lean that out.
