I see Year One and others have a grounding strap listed for the fuel tank sending unit yet I do not see the part listed in my Service Manual and do not remember one being there when I took the tank out. Can someone explain what this is and whether my 1968 Coronet needs one?
Thanks.

The rubber hose that connects the tank to the chassis fuel line insulates the tank sending unit from ground, without the ground strap the fuel sender wouldn't work reliably.

So what does it attach to?

It clips around the sending unit on one end, and the fuel line on the other end. It jumps across the rubber fuel hose basically..

It is a stamped metal strap that has double tooth clamps on each end to attach to the fuel lines. I will see if I can dig up a NOS one to post a picture. in the mean time, here is one I found on ebag.

One end clips onto the fuel tank outlet tube, the metal part, and the other end clips onto the fuel line.
This site has a picture about 1/3 of the way down.

Here is an original one on a Challenger......same as the one on you B body. The aftermarket ones are 2+ inches longer that the original ones.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to install one when I put the tank back in.
