I got my new four speed bolted up tonight. I know I need to either lengthen the drive shaft previously used with the 727, or just get a new one made. But, I need to know just how much to have added. How much free movement back and forth should there be with the drive shaft yoke on the tail shaft of the transmission? Thanks.

I could measure mine except I have a 7 1/4. I am sure the nose on that is different than the 8 3/4.

I guess what I need to know is how far the drive shaft yoke should extend into the transmission. How much movement back and forth do I need to compensate for suspension movement so that the yoke doesn't bottom out on the transmission's output shaft and to prevent it from pulling out of the transmission?

TK, I'd get a new heavy duty driveshaft made if I were you. A shop in Arnold, MO did a 3" custom one for me with solid race u-joints and it was much stouter than the original. If I remember correctly it cost me around $250. You have around a 400hp 340-4spd now twisting on that factory driveshaft. You don't want to spit that driveshaft out from under the car on a burnout or 6000rpm shift.
1970 FE5 Duster 360/904/3.91's SOLD
1973 TB3 SpaceDuster 340/4spd/4.10's SOLD
Moparless for now but when the opportunity is right I'll have another one.
