Building a street / strip 451. I have a set of Fed-Mogul #4094M main bearings that came with the 400 block I bought. They are listed as a stock replacement bearings (As opposed to "performance" bearings. They are full grooved, What do you guys think about using these, as opposed to a set of cleavite's ? These: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=FEM%2D4094M&autoview=sku(My enitial feeling is that if the motor is assembled correctly and solidly built, Any good full groove bearing should be just fine.)

Be careful with a full groove bearing. you might need to upgrade to a HV oil pump to maintain oil pressure. other than that, as long as they are quality made, I think they should be fine.
Check out 440sources website, they ahve a long page listing different bearings, what they're made of, what they're good for, why they're good for their designed use, and bad for other applications, etc.
like a race bearing being super soft and allowing dirt to embed itself into that bearing so it doesn't ruin the crank, but because it's super soft, they are only good for a season of racing before they're worn out.

I have yet to buy my Main Bearing, everyone seems to be out of stock when I go to buy periodically...I was told to buy Clevite H series for the 440...CLE-MS-1277HG.
I too have a Melling HV and will have about 45-65lbs with a Moroso Deep Sump. So volume and pressure wont be an issue
