my new to me ride is a 98 jeep GC limited 5.9
front shaft is MIA and it has one of those cv yokes on axle end of shaft.
can you "just" remove the yoke from the pinion and swap it with a regular u-joint yoke or is there a crush sleeve to watch out for when torqing the nut back down?
I have a jeep front shaft from a 94 or so, looks like the cv replacement kit will bolt up to the yoke and the spline of shaft stick in the cv.
"just" not sure on how long the correct shaft/splin should be.
anyone have one I can get measurements from?
any "used" cv shaft out there?

that shaft with the CV is very common used around here, car-part.com lists several in my area.
Dana 30 front axles, High pinion are not crush sleeve, low pinion are. I think ZJ uses low pinion.
Lots of times when a front shaft is missing on those, the Transfer case viscous coupling is dying.

The tcase you have from a 94, if it was bolted to a 5spd is a 231. It will bolt to the auto trans, the question comes into play is if the input shaft is long enough, they came in 3 lengths, there is a lot of info out there on which ones were supposed to be on which trans/tcase combo. input shafts are easy to swap and get. 3 lengths, 2 different gear cuts, and the change in gear cut came in 94.
when i said viscous coupling, i was assuming your jeep has a 249 tcase (full time, no 2wd option) I think all the 5.9 jeeps were.
In order to swap t cases, you might need different driveshafts, there are driveshaft length charts out there, google (jeep driveshaft length chart)
5.9L jeeps came with 3.73, tire size stock i think was 225/70R16
