Hi all,

I've replaced my original Holley 1-bbl with a "Super Six" setup - the Carter BBD 2-bbl from a '77-'80 Aspen/Volare. I hooked up the kickdown linkage yesterday, but still can't get it to downshift. I have it adjusted so the "throttle arm" on the transmission is as far forward as it can go with the throttle closed. The kickdown "rod" I'm using is the one that came with the 2-bbl when I bought it, and seems to be about 1/8" to 1/4" too short, so I'm guessing I'm not getting enough rearward deflection of the arm. I read on another site that the 1-bbl may have used a different throttle arm than the 2-bbl. I haven't been to my local dealer yet, but I'm guessing their books won't go back as far as the 1-bbl. Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about this. As always, thanks for your help.

Roger

The way I did mine was to flaten out the kickdown rod enough so that the lever on the transmission is pushed all the way back when the throttle is wide open. Then I just checked to make sure there was nothing binding. My car felt like it gained 30 horspower once it was properly adjusted.
