So I dropped the pan to check and see if I had another problem before ordering parts for the governor (thanks again, HotRodDave & Ron up ). The pic is what I found stuck to the magnet. Fluid still clean and no other debris in pan. Looks like a retainer from a clutch pack. frown Anyone seen this and can confirm my suspicion?

Yup, from o/d section. Typically the snap ring for the direct clutches in the o/d unit breaks.

You can fix it without removing the trans, just the OD section and you will need a press of some sort and an intermediate shaft or spline alighnment tool. I have eye balled them to line em up but might take a couple tries to get it just right so it will go back on.

Thats one reason why I always replace em all with flat snap rings.
