For me that is one of those things I think should be left up to those with experience. Just had my Ram front door windows and strip on the windshield done for $60. Most things I can do better than some "professionals" but no way I could do a better job on tinting. Besides anything else I've had done by this guy still looks new even after eight years.

I had mine professionally done as well. The shop I used pulls all the glass out of the car and applies the film in a clean room. I had all my glass out already to replace it with AMD tinted shaded glass. I did scratch one window and had to have it redone.
I used the lightest 3M tint they had, and am happy with the combination of factory tint plus the 3M tint. They even did the windshield.

If you do try it yourself be sure to keep the tint wet on the outside while trying to get all the air bubbles out as this will scratch it.

Its time to redo my 04 ram.what brand of tint would be the best.im going to give it a try myself. Don't know what brand names are out there these days, but typically I've avoided the parts store, off the shelf stuff. It tends to be lighter duty and not as color stable. I buy from a tint place willing to sell it by the foot. They tend to have higher quality film that a bit thicker and a lot more color fast.

Tint is one thing that's better off to just get a shop to do. It doesn't cost that much and if it doesn't look good you go back and get it redone. You can almost always tell who's done it themselves because it's full of bubbles and usually fades to a strange purple color.
