What is the correct Hemi 727 1970 part number that would be stamped on the trans?
A guy I met has some 727 transmissions that he says are 70 hemi, but want to verify the factory part numbers as I know the drums and such are different and for what he is asking want to make sure.

Well he got the talkin' part done. The numbers don't lie.

Looks like its p/n 3410 671.
1970 440 sx/pk trans is 672.
1971 hemi trans p/n 3515849.
1971 440 sx/pk p/n 850

With some Mopar parts the casting number may be different than the actual p/n but will usually be very close, not sure if this applys to transmissions too. Snatch up if turns out to be any one of the above.

you need to write down the whole # off the trans pan rail so you can figure out the date code and also note the VIN's if they are stamped on the trannys.

I have one sitting in the corner as a table. Tomorrow I'll go out there and get the numbers off of it for ya, to compare.

Here is the stamping on the rail. I didn't even notice the stamping until I took the paint off.

Should the VIN be here somewhere as well?

A partial VIN will be stamped in the raised pad on the passenger side of the bellhousing.

Just because the case is a hemi part # doesnt mean it still has hemi internals. I sold a 69 case only, anything could have been put in it.

Thanks for the info, as it turned out they were not hemi transmissions, what a blessing I did not listen to the "talk".
Thanks

Thanks

Here's a PDF file of '65-'86 numbers.

Found the pad...

Good to know that the tranny is the matching one for the Hemi.
