Picked up a .030 mega block this week and started test fitting some parts in the shop tonight. Hopefully going to be a .030 over 440 combo with a 4.250 440sourse combo (512) with a 7.100 Rod 512 engine 440-1 heads that were flowing 370cfm when I used them on my Daytona engine ( going with a 2.25 valve with more port work now) and a 830 lift cam with a 1.6 rocker topped of with an alcohol toilet system. Hope this will make a nice 8 second footbrake engine but will be setting up two indy intakes just in case the toilet makes a bad footbbraker combo. Any thoughts

Is it light? It will take 850ish hp to run high 8's is a 3000# car.

Thinking 3000 pounds right now but I will be working on that over the Winter

Hey John, just looking at your picture and I see that your barrel valve is black. I am pretty sure that Ron's has made improvements to them and they went to a grey color to identify them from the old ones. You might want to give James Monroe at Killer Ron's a call. 812 327-1190 Seems to be a straight up guy. Has helped me with mine a time or two. Beep

I was hoping you would chime in as the info is kinda limited on this set-up. I told Matt that I was going to call Ron's about sending this in for some updates and to see how they worked as a footbrake set-up. The powerglide will have a brake but I want it so we can hit some of the Loose-Rocker footbrake races down South. Thinking about a primer-plus system too to help warm ups. Thanks for the info.

The Flying Toilet injection works great in a footbrake car. I ran my 511 CID with Indy 440-1 heads with a Toilet for 5 years (drag racing) and loved the performance and cool operation on alcohol.

I did use the newer gray barrel valve. The Primer Plus system helps starting, especially in cool weather; and helps warm-up the motor idling with gasoline. I put that on a couple years after initial installation of the Toilet, and wish I did it right up front.

Some background info from the killerrons.com web site:

The smaller throttle body (3-3/4" - 1240 CFM) is reserved for 327 to 383 cubic inch engines where the owner has no plans of going bigger in cubic inch in the years to come. This throttle body typically is utilized with a "0" pump and .029-.035 nozzle jets.

The middle throttle body which is the most popular by far is the 4" version (1435 CFM). This has a wide span of cubic inch compatability ranging from 355 to as much as 502. This throttle body can work with a "0" or "0-1/2" pump and .032-.037 nozzle jets.

The biggest throttle body comes in at 1800 CFM (4.100") and is set aside for the bigger cubic inch/higher horsepower applications. Engines from 421 to 572 cubic inches can put this throttle body to work. Typically this throttle body will be mated with a "0-1/2" pump that will feed approximately 1000 HP with as big as a .040 nozzle jet.

Thanks for the info guys and its nice to hear it works as a footbrake combo. Mine has the red plate so it looks like it should work on a 512 combo.

I agree the red sized butterfly/opening should be fine; look at that air flow. I had the big purple one, FWIW.
What pump style (vane, gear) and size (0, 0-1/2) do you have?
I had a gold vane pump, 0-1/2. The gear pump is suppose to be better, but I had no complaints on my vane pump.

Ditto on the primer system! I have ran 2 different pumps, both gear type. 1st one was an "0" the 2nd one is an "0-1/2". Huge difference in pressure output. James said my "0" would support a little over 700 hp. it did barely but was showing signs of being lean in good air. The new "0-1/2" had to change the complete tune up on the car but it likes it a lot! Still working on that when the big dumb wheelie happened again. Throttle response is killer. footbraking will be super fun with it. Hope this helps. Beep

It helps a lot and I appreciate the help. 4 years ago I said I would NEVER run alcohol as my 93 octane pump gas engines were running pretty good but I finally gave in and had an 850 converted over to alcohol and really love the way they run cool. I haven't really jumped my compression up to see BIG performance gains yet but I will be doing so soon with some of my builds. Paying 11 dollars plus for gas would really take a hit to my racing budget. The 572 in my small tire build will need racing gas but it will be a limited use car. Thanks again for all and any info on the toilet. When I call and talk to him I will try to get the needed info so I can drill and tap my intake manifold for the injectors.
