Suggestions for paper grit and compound to use. Factory base coat / clear coat paint. Don't want to get in to the base coat, but need to remove some minor dirt in the clear. Thanks, John

I would not go less than 1500. 2000 and 3000 will make buffing much easier. I use the 3M Hook It system on a palm sander. Then buff with Presta buffing and finishing compound. I like Presta as it cleans easily with water. Its not cheap to get the material above. The pads, sanding disks and compound are quite expensive but it is one of the better ways to handle it.
