Yes...primer with overspray,but how early would this be correct for.
Would a 1965 valiant or barracuda be done this way?

I would think the answer is yes since the cars were dipped in primer, not painted

Not really dipped in primer, but rather a rust prohibitive coating that looked like primer, and it only went to about the height of your waist if you were sitting in the car. After the dip coating was baked dry the car was then primed (the complete car) in a second process, then painted in another separate process.

If you really want to get picky the car should have primer overspray then paint overspray over the dip coating. If you want to get picky.

Your car was easy. Slather undercoat all over everything. Even nice new lines and fuel tank. That was fun. Cleaning the shop after was not though.
