I have a 572 Hemi that I am building, and have the Indy Dual-Quad (dual top) intake, and I need some help selecting the best Edelbrock Carbs for it. Street/Strip car.
The choices are the Edelbrock Thunder 800cfm AVS or the 750cfm standard carbs, and I will also be setting them up with a progressive linkage, since it will be a street strip car. It will only see the strip maybe twice a year, and be street driven.
The car is a '69 GTX, 11.75CR, Hyd/roller Cam, 4.10 gears, 5spd Manual, 3650lbs, Caltracs, etc...
I want the car streetable, but also great for the strip, and I have seen AndyF recommend the Edelbrocks.
Thank you for the advice, Mark

for street and strip i'd do the 750's. i'm driving around on a pair of 600's with an edelbrock ch28 and they're none too big. Guess your not familiar with how much air & fuel a 572 Hemi requires....I would run the 800 Thunder series. I had a pair of 750 eddy carbs on my 472 at one time, and they were always lean. Great idle and so on, but scary lean down the track with the biggest jets I could find.

Why strap yourself with the Edelbrock?
If you spend the money a Holley will make more HP and not have hassle factor.
I know that won't go over well around here but facts are facts.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Thanks all,
My main concern was the "drive-ability" of Holleys, since I have had them on a couple of track cars (dual Quad) before, and the idle was always on the rich side. AndyF mentioned that the Edelbrocks had great idle and low-end manners for the street.
I do know the Holley's would be best for the strip, but I will be driving the car on the street some, and only going to the track 2-3 times a year max.
If the Thunder 800cfm AVS carbs are the way to go, then that is what I will buy. Also, at some point, I may end up with a cross-ram intake, and the Eddy's would work great on that too, I assume?
Thanks, Mark

'If you spend the money a Holley will make more HP and not have hassle factor.' I've run both 750/800 AFB on my 572 wedge, no difference in ET. In fact 750 AFB's are less then .10 difference in ET between Pro-Systems Holley's,(9.02/9.11). My AFB's idle perfect with a 285@.050" roller cam. Also drivability in the pits is excellent. That being said the AVS air doors are adjustable which is a nice feature. AFB's are available used cheap everywhere. If I was buying new I'd get the AVS. Doug LMAO... Doug... It just never ends, does it??? Go get 'em...
