How do you guys do it? I have the 6.5ft bed and most of the slide-in campers I want, hang over the bed and either need the tailgate down or off.....

My enclosed car trailer will hit the tailgate...I was going to sell my trailer and get one with the extended A-fram to clear, but funds are tight this year...

I'd change the jack on the trailer to one of the removable ones, or just use a floor jack, it looks like you'd have enough clearance.

At nearly 10k lbs, most of the cheaper jacks have failed. I would bet my tongue weight is probably north of 1500lbs...All my tools and the quad are up in the front of the car...

You really can't with that truck and trailer combo.

Toy need an 8' bed.

iagree

That truck is not intended to tow that kind of load.

How can a 3/4 ton dodge not be intended on towing that kink of load? Get a weight distribution set up that has an extended receiver. I have one. It's about 8 inches longer than most. Puts the trailer back just enough.

What is the tow rating of his truck? He's saying his trailer is already 10k lbs....

I wouldn't do a slide in camper with a trailer and a 6' box. Not what the OP wants to hear but IMO this is what 8' box trucks are made for. Or toy hauler campers. Do they make newer slide in campers for 6' boxes?

I had 2007 1500 Silverado 6.5 bed with a Lance 825 camper and towed open and enclosed trailers with it and I now have 2015 GMC Serria 2500 and have that set up to tow my enclosed 20' trailer with my lance in the bed.

You don't need to change trailers-you have change your hitch and get an extension. You need a Tork lift super hitch

and Super Truss hitch extension

one like this would work, no overhang according to them.

http://www.livinlite.com/6_8-overview.php

dry weight of 1780 though,

gcvw of a 2500 of I think 2003-2005? is anywhere from 17k-19k with a cummins 20k with the HO.

You will be close to the factory ratings, I'd throw some airbags in and haul it everywhere.

I really don't see how 1600 extra pounds is really going to matter. It tows nearly 10k like its not there and I do not run load levelers on any of my trucks....Whats an extra 1600?

I have been looking at the new trailers with the extended length tongue...Its an extra $325 on a new trailer...I even put mine up for sale, but I doubt I will really get any real takers. So....I need options.
