I have a 67 RT I am restoring and it would be easier to restore a different housing I have but I want to keep the car numbers correct/matching if I can. So if the housing is numbered/dated I will use it, but if not I can use another. Thanks.

Thanks guys for the responses. I guess it's worth a look to see first though.
But the 8 3/4 center case does have a raised date. Or is it a tag? I do not mean the 3.55 or 3.91 tag.

Mopar Mike, Yes you'll need to consider if you are going to re-use the original center section. I would guess it is in reasonably good shape and no reason why you can't re-install into the non-original housing you have. As always, think about keeping the original parts somewhere close by for the next guy to decide on keeping. Center sections are also rarely frowned on for not being original and add little to overall value even when still present. 95% of potential buyers will care less if the rear or pumpkin or both has been replaced at some point and may never ask or even question. Rear axle housings are commonly blasted and re-painted and the codes never documented or reapplied anyways.
