Lets see it when it is done?
I was thinking if the metal is too thin the section would need to be replaced, but if you just need something for a short time, weld over the crack and hope for the best.

Doug... just curious..have you had a head gasket
blow lately... that style of crack is usually a
hot (maybe lean) and all of a sudden cooled type
of crack.. just curious
EDIT
Sure it could have been a high stress zone from
the denting of it.. but the big area of the crack
opening is where it started

Don't forget to protect your ignition/electronics if you weld it in place
