I'm replacing my distributor with a Pertronix Flame Thrower, and the instructions say to connect it directly to the coil, What do you do with the 2 wires with the plug that used to connect to the original distributor that goes the the ECU? Are they not used any longer?

corret, they are not used any more

you need the one keyed hot wire that was on the coil

it and the red wire go on the coil and the black wire goes on the negitave side

Can I remove the entire ECU then? What about the ballast resistor, do I still need that, and can that be removed also?

That dizzy needs full 12v to it, so you can remove the ballast (or bypass it).

yes by pass the ballist for a full 12 volts at the coil, ypu can pull the guts out of your ballist and solder the ends on a standed #10 wire and put it back inside the porcilan then it all still looks stock, thats another good thing with the pertronix..its easy to hide that you have it and it all looks stock under the hood

you can unplug and remove the ecu also...I allways just leave it plug up and there my self

I have cliped all the un-used wirers off the harnes before also...like the 2 wire plug for the old dist and the choke assist wires too

but thats when I strip one all down, you just need the one keyed hot wire and a full 12 volts for it to work
