A while back someone wanted to see what a factory A-body heater delete plate looked like. Here you go, this one is NOS. The round plate coveres the blower motor hole in the firewall, the rectangular plate covers the holes for the two hoses through the firewall.

What does the top of the dash on a heater delete car look like? Any holes for the plastic defrost vents to sit in?

Yea Oz, take away the rib around the outside, paint it black, and remove the orange paint from the attaching hardware and you'd have the same part correctly installed....That is if it were being viewed in a mirror that is

I did say close not exact...

BTW...heater delete cars in Oz still had defroster vents, just nothing going to them from what I can tell. And a blank off plate for the dash where the controls went.

Dang, think what people would be saying if you had heater delete plate! That is a nice piece, guess nobody out there would reproduce that part though. How much more til your car is done?

I wonder why they decided not to put the flat on one "side" of the diameter like the non-heater delete plate, any ideas?

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Scott, that was me looking for the info. Thanks. Although I thought people said there were 2 styles of blower blank plates. One flat and the other stepped like yours....

Doubt I am going to find a real plate, I'm sure I can fab something close enough.

I remember seeing a flat one before too.The Ebody one is just flat.I wonder why they went to the trouble of making yours so fancy.

And while we are on the topic of your car how bout some pictures? I'm starting to think its like bigfoot...Hear about it but never see it

On the motor delete plate - does the bump go on the engine side?

On 68-69 A-bodies the motor hole is about 3.25 inch - the 68 SS cars got the flat plate with one edge cut straight. Looks like the diameter of the 'bump' is bigger than that, so it could only mount with 'bump' towards engine which (either orientation) seems as if the bump was there to accomodate something sticking out.

If there is a second style of A body plate I haven't seen one. This one makes sense to me, it's the same shape as the style the motor goes through, the only difference is that there's no hole punched into it. All you need to do to make one is to get a spare regular style, cut a disc of flat steel to fill the hole in, weld it up and grind it smooth and you'll have the exact same part.

*Tom, pics won't do much good, the paint and body have not been started yet so it isn't much to look at, old peeling $100 white paint job over the original GY3. When there's something significant to show I'll post it

Backside of a flat delete plate with normal gasket. Removed from a Hawaii car, flat edge oriented on bottom on firewall.
