a while ago, i posted about a transmission in a 1999 caravan that had spit the differential pin thru the case. on a whim, i thought [incorrectly of course] it might be possible to only replace the pin & spider gears, patch the case, and go. well, as most of you know by now, that didn't prove to be possible because the case was really busted up on the back side of the converter, plus it also pounded the converter up pretty bad on the od. of the housing. new transmission, shift kit and seals and all is well with the world. which brings us to the point of this post. is there anything in the old trans axle worth keeping for what ever reason, aside from the input/output sensors, crank position sensor and the prndl switch ? i did clean up and keep the side gear and sump pan just because here in the rust belt, these have been known to rust thru from the outside. any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated !
