Many may have seen my post for part one and part II I don't want to talk about. Abbreviated version: The size bolt head of the engine side of the engine to trans strut makes a difference on starter alignment.

Question for part (or should I say attempt?) III: How long is a pre-oil good for? I want to get as much lined up as possible the night before. My (non-automotive mechanical) crew is getting bored watching the menial set up. I thought if I got the pre-oil (which I did also prior to part one a week ago Sunday) out of the way the night before, would there be much drain back to the pan overnight?

Thanks
Scott

you'll be fine. Look at it this way, it'll be the same as when this is all done & it sits overnight then you start it up the next day, the preoiling will still be in place. OT, the yellow wire I referred to on the starter relay might not be solid yellow but it is the only wire there that has a hint of yellow (& that is the one you would pull to disable the starter when doing ign checks to see if the coil/ECU are being fed in run and in crank). EDIT the pickup might drain some but it (the psi) jumps right back up within a second or two when fired like it will after the breakin

Thanks Robert

As it turns out, that wire was yellow and black and I was so obsessed with the diagram saying yellow, that I tracked down the black and yellow wire(s) and found they involve the seat belt warning circuit. I suppose if I would have spent more time I would see how its still doing the job of starter relaying but I made sure the switch would do what the diagram said and I'll worry about the seat belt circuit later. (its only bypassed for now) There was another wire, the brown that goes from switch to ballast to coil that also routed differently than the diagram shows but I could trace it to find it completed the same circuit so I left it alone. Bottom line, testing with the distrib zigzag plug and coil wire, I have spark in both the run and start positions

Scott

Yeah I could tell you weren't happy & then it hit me that it must not be solid yellow and I did say yellow but with it being black/yellow then I (in the future) will be more specific
