Last year I installed a 9.5" converter in my 727 automatic. At the same time I also upgraded from a TCI deep pan to the really deep MP one which is 3.5" deep from mounting flange to inside bottom of the pan.

I retained the TCI aluminum filter extension, which is just a tad under 1" long...however, occasionally I feel the transmission kick-out of gear at the stop light, or on my driveway, most noticable when the car is somewhat on an incline...which makes me think that I still do not have enough trans fluid in (which I checked repeatedly) or that somehow the filter is potentially getting uncovered.

Now, I've never experienced this behaviour, or something like it before, so there could be a hidden transmission problem here, although it is a rebuilt unit with barely 2k miles on it. With the MP deep pan I'm thinking just to be safe I should run a longer filter extension anyways...what do you guys recommend? I posted a WANTED ad in the FOR SALE section as well.

You've restored the level to normal (reads full on the stick) plus the pan depth (& therefore the fluid depth is lower/more fluid) and the pickup is lower so if anything I'd think now it'd be less likely to be uncovered but wait for better (trans) guidance

The filter needs to be near the bottom of the sump...it might not be your problem but it's not correct as it is now.

OK, thanks guys...I'm going to go looking for about a 2.5-3" long filter extension...I'm guessing one of our Mopar transmissions shops will have one!

If not, is it possible to double up with 2 of the shorter ones?
