Looking at motor swaps on two of my trucks. (1982, 1984) Both of these trucks are 4x4.One is a auto, the other a stick. This being said, what is a fairly easy swap. On the stick truck, would like to install a 5.7 with a 5 speed. I think it would be a nice combo. The truck has a slant 6 in it now. How is it going to fit up to the transfer case? The auto truck has a 360 in it. tired ,3:55 gear. wouldn't mind to put in a better Horse power motor with over drive. Anyone do this already or good site to find out the best way. thanks

Neither of the two tasks you intend on doing are straight forward swaps, and probably wouldn't be classified as "fairly easy".

Modern Magnum & Hemi motors (92 & newer) have different motor mounts and exhaust manifolds, the od transmissions are longer then the non od, and all after 88 or 89 run on computers.

There are plenty of swap threads here so I'm not going to rehash all that info. Look around and spend some time reading.

Magnums go right in I've swapped those 14 times so far
I started a Hemi swap into my RC before my move but stopped because of my move
I can tell you that it takes a combo of car & truck parts to do the swap using a Hemi

Was I talking to you earlier today at the Nats? Nice blue step side, slant 6 truck?

Magnum motors do use different mounts on the magnum trucks, but the blocks also have ears for the older style mounts. Remember, the 360 and 380 hp crate motors were just truck magnum engines with different cam/intake

well the step side is home. going to do some research on how we want to build the truck. going to open a forum it. not sure what to do. build six, put in v8 from a 80's truck, or jump to something newer with a 5 speed and set body on it? want to explore them all, budget, and what a good move is to do. He's a college kid with limited budget. still its a father - son project. looking for the best bang for buck. He wants a good driver. so at this point im going to pull the cad, bed off and start on frame. So at this point, do I switch out motors or switch to a newer frame and newer year with a 5 speed. maybe a 93 Cummings?? lol
