Hello all,

Im very new to the MOPAR world and just purchased my first CUDA. I am having some troubles figuring out some statisical data. Can anyone please tell me how many EV2 (Hemi Orange) 1972 Cudas were produced and if it was possible to order one with a Dana 60 under it. The Cuda I just picked up has an original 11k miles on it and has been a Stock Class Drag car for all its life. I have talked to several Mopar guys that seem to be on the ball but have differing opinions. One has never heard of a '72 that came in Hemi Orange and is adimate that NO 72 ever left the plant with a Dana 60, Stock. Anouther resto shop that only restores Mopars said the Hemi Orange color is very very rare and has heard of a 72 with a stock Dana 60. Im confused. The Car is a 340 4barrel, 4 speed car. The fender tag points to a second tag which is missing. I have yet to locate the build sheet but if anyone out there can tell me if it is possible for a Dana 60 to come from the factory on this car I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't think there are any true records to determine actual numbers for colors, only stats.

71 was last year for Dana and it would definitely NOT be in SB car.

EV2 Tor-Red is a very common color . Galens O & A report for the 1972 BS line should give you the total number of each color.
No Dana 60 ever installed in a 340 car.
Your car did not have 2 fender tags.
IF you had a 2 tag car , your first tag would end with CTD

I don't have a breakdown of BH vs BS models but just over 9% of the 72 Barracuda line came in EV2 so it's not a particularly rare color.

I agree with no Dana in a 72 small block. You'd have to have factory documentation the car came with that rear end. There would be no reason to put a Dana behind a down rated 340 when the 8.75 held up behind a higher HP 340 from 68-71.

Please be aware that you can only apply that color percentage to all Barracudas and not just 'Cudas. Additionally, it's for US-spec Barracudas and not total production.

Still, a 72 340 4 speed Cuda is relatively rare. The data is in Galens book, but I don't have it in front of me... I have a July 1972 built car that is EV2 340 4speed, bought from the original owner's son...very cool car with a factory painted EV2 grill...

You're car was built in the early part of the build cycle in 1971...
