Was wondering, were NP 435 Manual Transmissions Painted from the Factory, or was it just Bare Cast Iron and Aluminum?

I saw some bolts painted Red and some light green on the aluminum, and wondered what was Original.

It is a 1974 Dodge W200 Power Wagon in question.

Any of the original stuff I remember seeing was the natural metal finish. The only one donning paint had been removed, rebuilt. or prettied up. Of course, with Chrysler, never say never, but its OK to say "I've never seen..."

Thanks for the reply.

The Trans in the truck is bare cast iron and aluminum. Pretty sure it has been rebuilt over the years. As I said, the bolts are painted Red and there is some light green on the aluminum shifter housing.

I had thought they might have been painted red, yet it would make sense that they would be bare as often were the differential housings.

Mopar wasn't into spending money painting things that would outlast the warrantee period, especially if the average customer wouldn't see it. Other then the motors themselves, most drive train stuff left the factory in natural metal finish. Gene
