Who make the best fitting pre-bent roll cage kit for a 69 Dart? I want it to hug the roof and A pillar real close. Jim

I believe mine`s a Comp eng. pre-fit bar and my fabricator friend said it was one of the nicer ones he`s installed.

My s/w was nice but like everyone else you gotta trim to fit.

I put an 8-point roll bar in from http://autoweldchassis.com. I know it isn't a cage but Ron Showers can set you up with a real nice cage. I installed my roll bar, I asked Ron to make the bars so I wouldn't have to remove any interior door components and he bent the bars very well. It was a simple install and it was my first install. Nice precise bends and the only trimming was the back bars to the trunk area.

chris alstons chassis works has really nice stuff. but, to get the best fit, i would go to a chassis shop and have them custom bend it for you! I worked at one here in ohio and my cage in my valiant is awsome!!! I cut the comp engin. crap out to do everything custom! what a diff!!!

Thanks to all of you for your replies. Looks like the cost of the tubing would be about $200. The Chris Alston kit is $285. Don't know what shipping would cost, guessing $100. I have a friend with a bender. Not sure which way to go. Jim

Id say if your friend knows how to use that bender, bend one up yourself.

Does it have to be DOM? I have read the rule book and didn't see where it says it has to be DOM. Am I wrong on that? Jim

No it doesn't have to be DOM. Any kit you buy from Chris Alston or Competition Engineering isn't going to be DOM.

If you going to spend the extra money for DOM you might as well use 'Moly instead.

S and W race car fab in penn. The fit was good I also opt for the rear seat option if interested tell them .I got all C/M nice fit only had to bend the rear bars from 40deg to 45deg because I wanted to move then to a diff location because of my battery box.

i would think schedual 40 shouldn't be considered, as it is just water pipe ?

Absolutely not! Water pipe should never be used! At my steel supplier DOM is $4.50 per foot and Chrome moly is $4.90 per foot. I think that ERW .134 wall is $2.90 per foot. That is 1 5/8 OD.

You have to look around, I bought DOM for hardly any more money then ERW. It was another 70% more to get moly...

But if you're looking for tight finish, you need to bend them yourself. That way it will end up exactly how you want it.

Here's some pics of mine, nice and tight...

Check out this old post, it's got more pics...

Thanks for the link to your pictures. That is how I want mine to be when finished. I won't take the front bars thru the dash though. Jim

The reason I put the bars through the dash is for leg room. It makes it A LOT easier to get in/out of the car with that front bar moved forward like that...
