Can anyone tell me what finish was applied to the 70 and 71 Cuda cast taillight housings? Any pics?
Also, what finish of black, (flat, low gloss or satin) was applied to the cast louvers or grills that went over the lenses? Pics?

Jeff,

As far as I know there isn't anyone that replates
them (housings)you may try the eastwood 2 stage paint green, gold for the housings. Do sample pieces first so you get the shading you want. The grilles are the same as the tail panel organisol black.

So they plated the pot metal?
Thats what it loooked like, but I wonder why?
To keep them from turning into powder?

Actually they were not plated but ran through a chromate when they were new to "seal" the zinc die-cast to protect them. They are tough to clean and get the chromate to penetrate when they are this old but it can be done. I'll try to find some pictures of the casting I have done.
