This may sound like a dumb question, but do any of you out there have a stock steel 67-68 Barracuda hood that you put a S/S scoop on? I have molded scoops to other hoods before, but they were obviously flat. The Barracuda hood has the big bulges right in the center. I dont know of any way of doing it other than cutting the center of the hood out and welding in a flat piece of similar gauge metal, then attatching the scoop. Any ideas or pics out there? Im doing the bodywork on the car and Id like to take care of this now

I have mounted 2 to 69 hoods with the large center hump.

Both I had to cut a small notch out of the back of the scoop and grind the back flange a bit to get it to conform to the curve of the hood.

The latest I actually cut the opening a bit larger and them slit the metal and trimmed it back and gradually took the hump away as it got closer to the scoop.

If the scoop isn't large enough to cover the bulges on your hood you would have to do the same, slit , hammer, cut and weld what you have or just re skin the section in question.

It is a ton of work and you have to be careful not to warp or bend the skin or inner bracing.

I had to cut out alot of the inner bracing for clearance so I boxed it all in and added some extra supports along the sides and rear because the hood was actually flexing when you went to close it.

I wanted the steel hood because I hate wavy body panels BUT after all the time and hassle it took me I would never do it again!.
