Which pump would be correct for a '68 barracuda with a 340? I assume Federal but am not sure.

Thanks!

I think it would be a Saginaw pump if I have my pumps right..

Yes the correct pump is a Saginaw and the brackets are unique to these early small blocks with the cast iron water pumps. I have a very nice one I just rebuilt for sale if yours is missing. Please PM or call if interested.
Thanks, Steve.

That doesn't look like a 68 to me. Actually the correct pump is a Federal.

Looking at my picture it appears to be a 69 from the tag and the orange pie tin, but it is the style hung on the waterpump lug. I am trying to figure this pump application thing out.

So we have different members saying both Federal and Saginaw. LOL

Could it be either?

Both were used on small blocks in 68 and 69.

I think on 340's, they vary with gear and air conditioning options. My 68 340 with coded 3.23 sure grip and no a/c had a Saginaw but it's no survivor. But it was standard bore numbers motor.

I've seen a 68 green notchback 340 in a magazine that looked like a survivor that had a Saginaw.

I think on a clone you could go either way. You can get parts for saginaws easier and imho better units that are more durable and don't lock up with quick maneuvers.

I picked up a Saginaw from a member here.

Thanks, everyone!
