Can I put a set of 2.76 gears from a mid 70s car diff in my 99 dakota R/T rear and keep the factory trac lock and axles tone wheel...?

What gears are you changing from? The Trac Lock unit might not work with the new gears.

The tone wheel sits on the ring gear register. If you have to change pumpkins, make sure it is machined for a tone wheel. Tone wheel counts axle revolutions, so gear ratio won't change your speedo calibration, like tire size will.

It has a 4.56 in it that is bolted onto the factory carrier for the factory 3.92. I can't stand the 4.56 so it has to go. I have a 2.76 R&P already and thought I would throw it in for a while and see what sort of MPG I could milk out of this 360 then throw a 3.55 or 3.92 back in when I put in my 410 stroker.

One of my employees loves setting up gears but I don't know if that early/late stuff can swap.

Thanks for the offer but I have 4.56 3.92 3.55 2.76 sets here for free.

As for calling one of the big suppliers I hate to bug them if I am not at all interested in buying something from them, just one of my pet peeves.
