I am bulking up a stock RV engine for some low budget fun with an edelbrock performer RPM intake, 750 Edelbrock carb and headers. All stuff I have already sitting around.

I have two cams to choose from, also on my shelf already. Thoughts on which is best with this low compression engine?

Mopar Purpleshaft Cam 4120235
Advertised Duration: 284 int./284 exh.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.484 int./0.484 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees):108

Comp Cams 270H
Advertised Duration: 270 int./270 exh.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.470 int./0.470 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees):110

Thanks!

Neither is ideal but I would run the smaller comp cam and advance it some more when installing if you don't want to buy another.

Either one will work better than most think. If you have a 2800 or higher stall put the p4120235 M/P cam in it, if it more like a stock high stall, 2200/2300 range use the Comp stick. Less converter than a factory high stall then something smaller. That M/P cam, I used in a 8.5 to 1 440 with a GERBOOM 10" converter in a ex-friends car and went 11.60s. Of course I would expect at least 3.55 gears as well. The ex-freind screwed me out of $6500 and tried to get me a divorce. A topic for another forum however.

Of those, definitely the .484.

I have a low comp 440 that I used to run with an Isky 292 mega cam. It was 108lc, 244 @ .050 and .505 lift if I remember right. It ran awesome with a 3000 stall converter and 3.91s. I upgraded to a comp .509 cam which actually made things a bit worse until I upped the converter to a 3800 stall. But it's not much of a difference, and I think a single pattern cam around 240/245 with 108lc would work great with a 2800+ converter.

x2, but just put it in 4* advanced (which it may already be ground for) and run it.

the 270 cam already has 4 degrees advance ground in to it.
