Since I still need to fix the trans I wish I was home
working on it.. I'm pretty bored sitting in this damn
hospital room waiting for Monday morning.. they will
split my chest at 7:30.. then keep me another 4 days..
but my luck wouldnt work out if I went home .. I'd end
up having another heart attack... my buddy offered to
do the work for me(and I might just have him do it) so
it might be done when I could drive it... oh well.. I
sure hope its just the valve body.. that would be quick
and simple shruggy
wave

Good luck tomorrow, Mr P-Body. If you have a good doc, this is as easy for him, as it is for you to changed valve bodies smile Piece of cake.

For the by-pass, did they let you pick custom colors to match your car or did you just stay with the standard red, blue, and silver?

Figured I had to throw in some race stuff so your thread wouldn't get moved to another section.

Mike, good luck with the plumbing job, looking forward to seeing you on Drag Week. Still lots of time to get ready, you are a lot further along than most.

No need to jeopardize your recovery by getting out to the shop too early.

Like I said lot's of time and it sounds like you already have offers for help if you need it.

See you in September!

According to MoparBilly you only have to start working on your car a couple days prior to Drag Week so I think you'll have plenty of time.

Wow, a sign of a true gearhead! In the hospital awaiting a quad-pass and you're thinking about your race car!!! Gotta admire that.
Good luck Mike! You'll do fine.

I think Mike is restless because they won't let him enjoy a smoke in the hospital!

Seriously Mike, we're all pulling for you and wishing for a successful operation and a speedy recovery!

Just talked Mike's surgeon, he was very happy with how the surgery went. They ended up doing a quadruple bypass, all to the right side (Widow-maker side).I'll get to see him in about an hour...for 10-15 minutes then they're gonna kick me outta here. THANK YOU ALL for the prayers and good, healing energy!!!! Now, he's supposed to stay out of the shop for about 3-4 weeks to let the breastbone fuse so if you hear him talking about working on his trans, PLEASE yell at him.

Thank you for the update on Mike! Glad to hear the surgery went well.
We hope he follows the doctors orders as far as no wrenching on the car is concerned! Maybe you could lock up the shop and hide the key!

Good to hear, i remember my dad going thru this and it was his first time in a hospital and he was kicked out after 2 days cuz he complained of the bed being to small ( he was 6'6" ) and of the pain so they sent him home but that wasnt any better as he wanted ciggarettes and drove himself and got into a wreck ( rear ended ) no injury thank goodness but having a wired up chest and leg tore up from the veins removed was a looong healing time, then the anxiety which is common from this procedure was hard on him, But ive heard ppl waking up and feeling born again because of the blood flow being restored, Mike has support from everywhere so He will do fine, just has to go ez for a while.

Well, I got to see him for the 10-15 minutes and he was totally out of it. They're bringing him out of the sedation s-l-o-w-l-y....I guess he already tried to get up or lash out or something. They have his hands restrained now....as a Vietnam vet, Mike has a tendency to wake up hard and on the fly. What impressed me is how much better his skin color looks, he no longer looks that sickly gray color. I've gone home for the day but will be calling in later to check on him. Depending on what they say, I'll probably be able to visit him tomorrow.
Thank you again for all the good wishes!

I just got a call from Mike, they want to keep him an extra day or two. They haven't been able to pull both chest drain tubes yet, he's still putting out enough fluid that they want to keep an eye on him. But, he's looking and feeling good. I took his computer in to him yesterday so he should be chiming in soon.....if he can get the staff to move the computer closer to him or if he gets unhooked from enough stuff to go sit in the chair across the room. They never have enough electrical outlets in institutions, do they? And in ICU, hospital staff gets priority over the outlets closest to the patient.

It's easy. You need a small 10 ton press, a drill press with a 1" tapered ream, 2 large pipe wrenches and a medium hammer. I'm sure some of the guys will come over and help out. hammer sawzall wrench bondo beer

Close, that was a Dilaudid & Norco smile. And yes, we did talk after the "call me girl" msgs....he was so confused, he couldn't figure out the hospital phone. He sounds much more lucid this morning. runaway
