I'm installing a Edelbrock hi-perf mechanical fuel pump on my 383. Thought I should measure the push rod length. Spec says it should be 3.22 in. Anyone know what the min. length would be before having to replace it? Thanks!

Any length reduction would just give you less volume per shot but I'd be more worried about how deep the case hardening is. it may be end to end as I've seen some deep scallops but wait for the BB guys to chime in

Mine was 2.97 in the middle when I had to replace it last year due to lack of fuel to the carb, but the wear was scallopped on one side so sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. From all I've read on the replacements I'm hoping I didn't need to buy 2.

I dont know why you'd play around with a used one when money would be well spent on a new one.
I have a few NOS factory Chrysler ones left at $18.00 shipped to your door.
I have sold quite a few to satisfied customers.
You can PM me if interested.
I, too, have heard reports that the aftermarket ones dont stand up and are a lot more $$
